Periodontal Therapy

There have been major advances in non-surgical periodontal treatment for chronic periodontal disease. Our state-of-the-art ultrasonic scalers have been designed by a periodontist for maximum effectiveness on root surfaces. Our main priority is keeping you and your mouth healthy. Every effort will be made to provide treatment as comfortably as possible.

If you've been diagnosed with periodontal disease, you may need scaling and root planing as opposed to a regular healthy mouth cleaning. During the scaling and root planing procedure, all hard calculus deposits are removed from the teeth and the root surfaces are smoothed to provide an optimal environment for healing to occur. An antimicrobial rinse may be used during treatment to help keep the bacteria levels to a minimum.

After the initial scaling and root planing therapy, more frequent visits with your hygienist may be required. Often times, our patients are seen for periodontal maintenance cleanings every 3 or 4 months based on their needs.

We take every opportunity to help you control your periodontal disease problem non-surgically and then reevaluate to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. If surgical treatment is required, a referral to a periodontist or gum specialist may be made.
